The Nose: I drank the wine quite chilled (it was a hot day) and as a result, many aromas were not within my reach. I thought there was some melon there, and the minerals made a nice play in the bouquet.
The Taste: Very refined, this wine. A clean and crisp feel in the mouth, along with just enough acidity, produces a tendency to gulp. But try to slow down and savor. Good minerals are here, with lots of wet rocks in the first part of the mouthful. Then a wave of pears and apples comes in, very crisp, not baked. Some lightly nutty flavors come in at the end. Very refined, indeed. This is a delicate wine that gives a wonderful drinking experience and a nice finish, too.
I don't know anything about wine except if it tastes good, it's a good wine. I like your description of this one. I generally like a pinot blanc if it's really cold. Maybe that makes me a dolt? The cleaner and crisper the better. When you say "minerals" and "wet rocks," do you mean that taste of earth a wine sometimes gives you? Love that.
ReplyDeleteThere are no right or wrong answers in this blog. If a wine fits your flavor profile, then it's a great wine! Like 'em really cold? So be it! Cleaner, crisper? I vote yes! I happen to love the taste of the earth that is imparted into wine, and yes, that's what I mean by minerals. Wet rocks? There is a smell I get quite often in white wines, of a very shallow brook with a rocky bank, from my childhood. That's what I'm thinking of there. It's always a great memory. Thanks for commenting!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure. I sent your link to a friend who makes her own wine. I hope she'll check you out.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Petrea.
